Future Tense


The different tenses used to express future actions

1) The simple future (will + infinitive verb)

    example: I will go to the Writing Center tomorrow morning.

2) The present progressive (to be in present + -ing) : to refer to specified future actions.

    example: My plane is leaving on Sunday at 2:00p.m.

3) The simple present : to refer to specified future actions.

    example: My plane leaves on Sunday at 2:00p.m.


What about the other future tenses?

1) Future progressive (will + be + -ing): future actions that have been planned.

    example: I will be studying for my exams next week.

2) Future perfect (will + have + past participle): a future action that will be completed before another future action.

    example: I will have travelled around the world before I am thirty.
 

3) Future perfect progressive (will + have been + -ing): the progressive form emphasizes the length of the future action.

    example: I will have been studying for two years this fall.
