I was born in Lima, Peru, in 1971.
My mother and father were journalists and social activists who would read
every night and gather with friends several times a week to discuss their
readings. In my childhood, my aunts and uncles used to take me to their
own classes at their college, to political meetings on the street, and
to concerts to protest against the brutality of the dictatorship. With
my early eight or nine years old, I was always with them, looking foward
to exciting and interesting events. One of the things that I liked the
most, is when my young aunts used to take me to poetry readings and book
presentations of their many writers' friends. I feel that these experiences
gave me the motivation to start writing.
